New clients have started to ask us about the enormous homebuying incentives that Johns Hopkins offers their employees through the “Live Near Your Work” program. If an employee buys a home in of the areas surrounding their campuses, Hopkins provides a $23,000 or $36,000 downpayment. (Employees only get to keep the full amount if they stay for five years. If they leave, they have to pay back a prorated amount. Find all the details on their LNYW program page.)

$36,000 grants
This zone includes portions of the Oliver, Middle East, and Broadway East neighborhoods that surround the Johns Hopkins hospital campus. In early 2015, many homes are likely to still be under construction. (If there are only a couple photos of the exterior, it’s a major overhaul of an old building. If the photos are just drawings, it’s a new building.)

$10,000 grants
REMINGTON zone: This neighborhood is just south of Hampden, where we spend a lot of our free time. As some homebuyers and developers already feel “priced out” of Hampden, they’re looking to Remington as the closest neighbor.
